Welcome to the Miniature Canada Project
What does it mean to be Canadian? This question doesn't
come with a simple little answer that we can all memorize
before we move on to our next social studies lesson. Instead,
it leads to more questions. For example, what do Canadians
look like? What do Canadians value? Through the Miniature
Canada Project we gather and interpret statistical data
and create our own visual representations of what it means
to be Canadian.
Miniature Canada is a three-step project that involves
viewing, researching, creating. First, you view the Miniature
Earth video. Next, you complete research at the Statistics
Canada website. Finally, you use your research data to create
your own Miniature Canada Show. When your show is ready
for viewing, just post your work on youtube and send us
the address.
You can choose a broad or narrow focus for this project.
For example, you could focus solely on the health of Canadians.
Chosing a broad focus means including stats from a wide
variety of areas.

Statistics Canada
Canada is a huge country. Most Canadian citizens
never get the chance to go to every province and territory.
In order to understand what it means to be Canadian,
we have to be able to get the big picture. Luckily,
Statistics Canada is all about the "big picture."
This organization gathers data on many aspects of
life in Canada.
